'' 'Istanbul Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam ((トルコ語:İstanbul İslam Bilim ve Teknoloji Tarihi Müzesi)) is located in the former the Imperial Stables Building in Gülhane Park. The museum was opened on 25 May 2008 and displays replicas of 9 and 16th century scientific instruments of Muslim scholars. The models were all made at Munich University from descriptions and drawings in contemporary texts - very few original items are present. While the collection and layout are generally interesting, the displays suffer from a number of problems: 1 - the point that Islamic science played a major role in shaping early scientific work is emphasised to an extent which simply weakens the argument and becomes tiresome to the visitor; many of the exhibit labels start of by saying (in one way or another) that 'we did it first' 2 - there are no explanations of how the devices work; for example, a replica of an early distillation column is modelled with some modern features (such as its valves) but there is no diagram or explanation of what the various elements do; an expert might know but not the lay public 3 - a critical factor in technical research and discovery are the units-of-measure standards used; these are not discussed at all - for example, what do the scales on the astrolabes measure; in the specific gravity device no mention is made of the weighing process and how it came to define the masses needed in the determination of specific gravity - simply displaying relatively modern "weights" are no substitute for providing an explanation as to why they became those values 4 - a time-line of discoveries would have been very useful in understanding how the different streams of the displays come together 5 - the museum is not aimed at younger visitors with very few interactive displays and those that were present weren't working! The museum is worth visiting, but might be ultimately disappointing if you're looking for a real scientific record and explanation of Islamic discoveries over the ages. == References == 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Istanbul Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
